Muscle Shoals

An all-Star Concert in support of the film “Muscle Shoals” was held on February 27th, 2013 at the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Conference Center.

On hand was John Paul White (The Civil Wars), Candi Staton, Delbert McClinton, Ed King (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes), Christine Ohlman (Saturday Night Live Band), Donna Jean Godchaux (Grateful Dead) and many other legendary Muscle Shoals Musicians joined together to celebrate the great music that came from the area and specifically from Muscle Shoals Sound Studio.

Here’s some video of the event. Special thanks to @johnamacie for bringing the White videos to my attention.

  1. Hello to anyone who will help me get in touch with Percy Sledge. Thank you in advance. In about 1977-78,while a TN State Trooper,I met Percy after a concert in Knoxville, TN. I did not attend due to being on duty and having a bite to eat at a Howard Johnson.s Restaurant. Long story made short and near arrest for him and his crew, Percy spent the night with me and another friend of mine at my house. I drove Percy to his next engagement in Greenville or Johnson City TN. He even sang during the trip and I had to think “who can say that I had Percy sing to me for over an hour while driving in my car”? We lost contact over the years due to our differing roads. Anyone, Please help as I just one more time pray to link up with Percy even if by phone/letter/ in person. Semper Fidelis, Hal Davis
