Gary Allan Opening for Rascal Flatts
Gary Allan is a great artist with a voice and a sincerity that can really draw you into a story. The man took a personal tragedy (the suicide of his wife) and turned it into a theraputic, personal and exceptional album “Tough All Over.”
I’m sure Allan’s current opening slot with Rascal Flatts will allow him good exposure to a wider audience. Too bad the pain caused by the pop-country swill of the Flatts will make me to miss him when he’s here at Madison Square Garden on the 16th.
Hey Gary, when you’re done opening for a band not worthy of carrying your gear come back through on your own and I’ll be front and center.Â
Yard Dog with Bloodshot in Chicago This Week
Austin’s Yard Dog folk art gallery and the mighty Bloodshot Records in Chicago this week for two big events. Friday through Monday they will be showing art at the very first Country Living Fair at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. On Thursday night we’re joining forces with Bloodshot Records & Jon Langford at the Hideout, one of Chicago’s finest bars, for a night of art & loud music.

Don Edwards,a Grammy nominated singer-guitarist, continues
to build a musical legacy of the American West. The National
Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, summed Edwards’s importance
as “…the best purveyor of cowboy music in America today.”
Randy Huston was breaking horses for wages at 13 and competing
in the rodeo throughout high school and college. After graduating
college, he moved to Kentucky where he was a horse doctor for some
of the best-known horse farms in the world. In the 1980’s, Randy
pulled from his experiences as a cowboys and started to write songs
and record CD’s.
Deadstring Brothers Fall Tour with the Shooter Jennings
Motor City’s Deadstring Brothers have scored themselves a
place on the bill with Shooter Jennings on part of their
upcoming Fall tour. The Sticky-Fingers influenced roots-rockers are currently on tour in the UK and will begin a trek through the US in mid October in support of their current Bloodshot release “Starving Weather Report.” The Brothers will join Bloodshot brethren Scott H. Biram, The Meat Purveyors and more at the Bloodshot Records / CMJ Bar-B-Que on Saturday, November 4th at Union Pool in Brooklyn. Â
